The Return of Lee Kuan Yew

The Return of Lee Kuan Yew

September was a fruitful month for Triplex Studios. We kick-started the month with the final week of the 9th biennial Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition, organised by Singapore Management University’s (SMU) Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE).

This year’s record of 550 submissions from over 300 leading universities in 68 countries, surpassed the competition’s last edition of 184 entries from 140 universities. These results would not have been achieved without constant social media marketing efforts, the production of a video series and a completely revamped website over the course of almost 1 year.

36 shortlisted teams were invited on an all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore from 11-15 September to participate in acceleration programs, public fireside chats with Michael Seibel, CEO of Y Combinator and David Su, Founding Managing Partner of Matrix Partners China.

Over the week, Triplex Studios not only managed the flight arrangements of 85 finalists from all over the world but also the transportation to the various locations, like BASH, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Temasek Polytechnic and tourist attractions.

“It was clearly a monstrous task organising so many moving parts and it all came together incredibly well.” Richard Cartwright, a global finalist from the Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan competition.

On top of all the workshops and tours the finalists participated, the highlight of the week was definitely the awards ceremony night, where Triplex Studios was able to display the media & graphics through a LED backdrop.
